A development scheme for the Eurajoki, Köyliönjoki and Lapijoki rivers

The Riverside scheme was implemented during 2009–2011. The scheme focused attention on the Eurajoki, Köyliönjoki and Hinner-Lapijoki rivers that all required extensive and long lasting cooperation in order to improve their condition. The rivers flow through historic cultural scenery and have always had a strong influence on inhabitants in the area. During the last few decades the rivers have suffered from problems with water quality resulting in a decline in activities. There is a connection between the decreased state of the rivers and anthropogenic proximity and operations. Only by working together is it possible to improve the rivers and river banks.

The brochure of the recently completed Riverside Scheme can be read here, and operations and photo material can be viewed on the scheme’s blog (in Finnish)

The scheme carried out surveys on the Eurajoki river vegetation and bird life. Furthermore, brochures on the Eurajoki-Köyliönjoki river and Lapinjoki-Hinnerjoki river were produced in cooperation with the Centre for Economic Development Transport and the Environment for Varsinais-Suomi (ELY-keskus) and the SATAVESI-programme. Links for the above surveys and brochures are available below.
